Poker Stars is currently giving players a free chance to win a seat in the prestigious invite-only N
ational Heads-UP Poker Championship. The tournament is played in Las Vegas and is a 64 player tournament with the biggest poker professionals taking part.
Poker Stars.net is currently running Round 1 Freerolls and players that advance will play in Round 2. The top 56 players of Round 2 will be entered in the Grand Final. The Grand Final poker tournament will award the top 2 finishers with prize packages worth over $21k ($20k tournament entry, 4 nights, and $1k for travel expenses).
Round 1 tournaments are played daily till February 20 and the top 200 players will advance to Round 2.
Round 2 tournaments are played every Sunday with the top 56 players advancing to the Grand Final.
The Grand Final will be played on February 22, 2009 at 15:00 Eastern. The top 2 players will then play at the National Heads-Up Poker Championship on March 5-8. The tournament will later be aired on NBC!

Peter Eastgate has won the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event and is now part of team Poker Stars.net. Peter Eastgate lasted a field of over 5000 players. He is now the youngest player to ever win the world series of poker main event at the age of 22. Beating the previous record of 24 held by Phil Hellmuth.
The final table was delayed 3 months and was later dubbed the “november nine” after the nine players waited for November 11th when play would be resumed. Peter Eastgate had 4-1 odds going into the final table but was able to pull off the victory against Ivan Demidov and took home $9,152,416 for his efforts.
You can now find Peter Eastgate playing at Poker Stars.net as well as live poker tournaments around the world. Eastgate is originally from Odense, Denmark and has played in the EPT and Irish Poker Tour poker tournaments as well as the World Series.

Poker Stars Million Dollar Men Freeroll
To celebrate the six Poker Stars players who made it to the final table of the World Series Of Poker (WSOP), PokerStars.net is throwing daily freerolls where participants will have the chance to go up against the 6th WSOP finalists and take home as much as $100,000 for first place. The daily freerolls start September 27 and will continue until October 17. The big prizes will be rewarded to anyone who can make it to the final table, but for those less fortunates numerous other cash prizes are dished out along the way.

Poker Stars has recently released their long awaited mac poker client. PokerStars had allowed mac users to beta test the poker software and now feel that it is ready for a full release.
Poker players with a mac computer can now play at the poker room by downloading the mac poker software by going to the regular pokerstars.net download page and there you will see a dialog box that takes you to the mac pokerstars download.
Mac computer users that aren’t familiar with PokerStars.net have a lot to look forward to. Poker Stars is the largest poker site and has hundreds of tournaments daily with more then 30 million dollars in guaranteed tournaments through out the week. They also have thousands of cash games being played at any time with penny stakes up to thousands of dollars in the high stakes poker games.

Poker Stars latest free promotion, the Poker Stars Summer games, is an exclusive tournament for Poker Stars players from the United States and Canada. In the Sumer Games events players will get the chance to represent their country and win thousands of cash prizes for free.
Event Structure:
The Sumer Games will consist of 8 different tournaments featuring 8 different games for each of the two countries. The top 5 players in each of the qualifying tournaments will added to the team of their home country and be given a seat in the US vs. Canada 100,000 final. Along with the 80 possible seats in the final, more than 80,000 cash prizes will be given out along the way.
Once again entering the tournament is completely free so there is no reason not to give it a shot. However, be careful when entering a qualifying tournament because players are only offered one chance to qualify per week. Poker Stars is the largest poker room in the world and they are once again flexing their muscle this time adding millions of dollars to many of their most popular poker tournaments. They are going from $7.5 million to $13 million per week!
Poker Stars is known for their Sunday Millions and the tournament just got bigger with an additional $500,000 dollars added to the guranteed prize pool. Making it a $1,500,000 dollar tournament!
Two other sunday Poker Stars.net tournaments also got additional prize pool money including the Sunday Warm Up now $750k and they have just announced a new $530 weekly No Limit Hold-em tournmaent with a guarantee of $250k (Also the last Sunday of every month the tournament will have a $1,050 buy-in).

This September the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) is coming back to Poker Stars.net. The WCOOP is the worlds largest online poker series, and this year it is bigger than ever. Doubling last years prize pool, the 2008 WCCOP will offer a prize pool of $30,000,000 guaranteed.

Starting September 5th and ending with the main event on September 22nd, the WCOOP will host 33 different events and a wide range of poker games. Although tournaments don’t official start until the fifth, Poker Stars players can try to earn their spots in WCOOP qualifying satellites. Cash qualifiers start at as low as $2.20, and players using FPP can enter a satellite for as low as 100 Frequent Player Points.

Poker Star’s pros Daniel Negreanu and Barry Greenstein are currently second and third on the World Series of Poker player of the year chart. Daniel Negreanu is in second with 170 points, 15 points behind leader Eick Lindgren, with one braclet and 4 cashes. Just below him Barry Greenstein has 165 points with one braclet and 3 cashes. Together the two players have combined for a total of $769,001 WSOP earnings.
