High Stakes Golf

In the world of poker it looks like we will have something new and exciting to look forward to after the WSOP. In Card Player Magazine, Doyle Brunson announced that ESPN will be televising a high stakes golf tournament featuring top poker pros. According to Brunso,  there will be two different setups at the event. The first event will comprise of two man teams, with a buy-in of $200,000 per team. The payout for the event will be: First - $1 million, Second - $500,000, Third - $250,000, Fourth - $150,000, Fifth - $100,000.

In the second event of the day, which will begin immediately after the completion of the first event, they will raise the stakes to a $3 million buy-in per player. A total of nine players will be competing in this event on three different teams. The format the players are going to follow is a combination of skins and best ball. There will likely be lots of ties on the course, but for each hole a team is able to win they will receive $500,000.

Many of the players competing at this event will be representing online poker rooms. Doylesroom will of course be represented by Doyle Brunson along with Dewey Tomko, and Al DeCarlo. Full Tilt will sponsor David Grey and Huck seed, and as you would expect Poker Stars is sending Daniel Negreanu.

The only handicapping for the tournament will be tee off positions, and that will be decided by the players who know each others power and skill. Overall, with the amount of money at stake and the ridiculous side bets that will  take place, this should be a fun and exciting event to look forward to.
